Has anyone heard of navane or risperdal making you crave soft drinks. I take both navane and risperdal and all I want to do is eat and drink soft drinks. Please let me know if this has happened to you and what your psychiatrist suggested?

I have never taken any of the atypical antipsychotics, but from others posts here I have gathered that they seem to often cause sugar (& Empty Carb) cravings. Not positive on this one, but I think there is some reference to this side effect at http://www.crazymeds.org -- Hope this helps!

I had a test run with Risperdone, was on it for about a week or two...I hate coke. Can't stand it.
But, that was all I wanted to drink. I wanted candy, especially those nips...the ones with the chocolate covered carmels. I wanted strawberry fizzy drinks too.
My doc told me take benedryl, I was have some lip smacking and twitching too, that seemed to help, I just made myself drink mineral water and chew gum. Then we tried the Cogentin, but the EPS got too bad and we stopped.
I even tried increasing my vitamins.
I remember taking Navane when I was 16 or so to get my mind cleared up after a trial with Lithium, I don't recall being a coke fiend, but I do remember I could do algebra...go figure.
This is the end of the thread.
