If the issue is sleep, then there are actually a lot of options to try within the med and herbal field.
You asked about mirtazapine. I was on it for a year and am familiar its dose range from 2.5mg to 15mg. As accurate as I can tell, the norepinephrine stuff starts to come into play at about 7.5mg. It really doesn't get strong on NE until above 15mg though. Anyway, I found doses in the 2.5mg to 7.5mg to be knockout punches for sleep without any NE effect.
